Working with citizens…
"I recently had the opportunity to work with a Bannock County resident to co-sponsor a bill she wrote to strengthen Idaho’s criminal penalty law. It was a truly satisfying experience to see her bill progress through committees, pass the House and Senate and be signed into law by the governor. It was proof that one person can make our system of government better."
"As a past president of Family Services Alliance (FSA) Board, I saw the need to help families dealing with physical and emotional abuse in Pocatello. I have been approached by a local law enforcement officer to draft and advance legislation to more effectively combat and prevent domestic violence here and around the state."
What others say…
"During her time in the legislature, Representative Elaine Smith has been an advocate for Idaho’s most valuable resource, our children. She recognizes that economic growth is dependent upon a well-educated population." Sharon Fleischmann, Educator
"I have worked with Representative Elaine Smith on several committees and have found her to be conscientious, hard working, and very concerned with reaching sound solutions to problems. She has excellent people skills and can bring parties with differing viewpoints to common ground." Joe Campbell, Businessman
